Taitaja competition brings crowds to Oulu Print E-mail

The Taitaja 2010 games that began today have crowded the area around Ouluhalli as well as some of the streets of Oulu. In only a few hours 6000 spectators visited the competition. The parking area of Ouluhalli is reserved for the competition.

Visitors are advised to leave their cars home and arrive at the arena by public transport or by walking. The distance from the centre of Oulu to the Ouluhalli arena is about one kilometer. The walking route is marked from the Oulu City Hall all the way to the arena.

There is no parking for visitors around the Ouluhalli. A car park has been arranged for visitors in the Kaukovainio area, address Kotkantie 1-2. There is a free bus transport traveling back and forth between the car park and Ouluhalli. Buses will leave visitors near the Raksila baseball stadium.

Tehtaankatu, Ratakatu and Teuvo Pakkala katu are constantly filled with hundreds of buses transporting students. Visitors are advised to avoid the area.

Local buslines go from the city centre to Ouluhalli. The buses are numbers: 3, 4, 6, 9, 13, 20, 24, 25, 30 between Toripakka and Välkkylä and 5, 12, 32 between Toripakka and Kainuuntie. Citybuss route B runs between Toripakka and Kiviharjuntie. The buses run every five minutes.

Oulu’s local newspaper Kaleva is broadcasting a live video stream of the games on their website.
